iPhone with Flash

Josh Woodbuy | Apple | 20-11-2008 15:20

One of the things Apple ‘forgot’ to build in when they made the iPhone was Flash. Why is still unknown. Anyway. No more waiting because finally a third party has made a Flash plugin for the Safari browser. For the time being the plugin made by ImobileCinema is only available for firmware 1.1.1 to 1.1.5 but hopefully it will work soon for all versions.

iPhone and Omnia jokes

Josh Woodbuy | Apple, Samsung | 24-09-2008 16:20

Drinking beer can be done with the iPhone, gambling with the Samsung Omnia. Let’s wait and see what kind of distractions the Nokia N96 and Blackberry Bold will bring ;-)

iPhone 2.0.2 vs. 2.0.1

Josh Woodbuy | Apple | 26-08-2008 13:18

As you will probably have heard by now there are complaints about the 3G reception and speed of the new iPhone 3G. Apple has made a new software version (2.0.2) to deal with these problems. In the video below the two software versions are put to the test. To save you ten minutes here are the results. Version 2.0.2 is considerably faster when surfing with 3G (well done Apple), surfing with WiFi is not that much faster than before with 2.0.1. though.

Happy with your Nokia with S60 OS? But somewhere somehow there is a little bit of iPhone desire? Meet the guys in the movie clip below! This funny little application can be obtained here.

Blackberry Bold versus iPhone

Josh Woodbuy | Apple, BlackBerry | 15-08-2008 16:23

Smooth against even smoother, business against business-like and wiiiiiide against wide. Blackberry Bold against iPhone. Who will win? Find out below but bear in mind that this is a pre-production version of the Bold and the good old iPhone without 3G. But hey: this is about the big picture. We all know the specs of the iPhone by now so I will give you the Blackberry Bold: triband 3G and HSDPA device with TFT display with 65000 colors and 480 x 320 pixels, 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, USB, WiFi, GPS, FM radio, 1 GB internal memory and a microSDHC slot. The Blackberry Bold weighs 133 grams and the dimensions are 114 x 66 x 14 mm.

iPhone 3G: my apologies

Josh Woodbuy | Apple | 16-07-2008 10:46

My intention was not to write anything about the new iPhone 3G for at least one full week. I didn’t make it. Maybe next time. My apologies. I’ll try to do better next time.

3G iPhone review

Josh Woodbuy | Apple | 10-07-2008 12:51

3G iPhone

Apple has done it again. Tonight the 3G iPhone will be released and at least half of the worlds population wants one. The first reviews begin to surface but they’re not all singing Hallelujah. Below you will see the pros and cons of a Dutch website. Their findings are that the new features (3G, GPS and new and improved software) are not working the way they should be. The 3G connection is weak, the GPS connection is weak and the improved software is only slightly better. Maybe it’s not a bad idea to pick up a used first generation iPhone for a small price?

Pro
+ Well built
+ New headphonejack
+ Exchange
+ 2.0-software (slightly) better

Con
- No GPS navigation software
- 3G connection is weak
- Stains!
- Loudspeakers placed to deep
- Sometimes the conncection is lost during phonecalls

The new Apple iPhone. Review by Apple

Josh Woodbuy | Apple | 02-07-2008 17:13

Below you will find an extensive commercial(?) by Apple concerning the new 3G iPhone. I am becoming more and more impressed by this phone. I am still concerned though about the way you have to type text and emails on the iPhone so when I get my hands on one in a couple of weeks I will test this thoroughly.

Let’s get back to the typing thing. Some people have absolutely no problems with this…

Samsung Instinct vs. LG Vu vs. Apple iPhone

Josh Woodbuy | Apple, LG, Samsung | 25-06-2008 22:20

The barking dogs at phonedog.com have made a very nice and extensive video review of the iPhone, the Samsung Instinct and the LG Vu. My choice would be the iPhone even though it’s one of the first generation. The phonedogs agree with me. Or the other way around of course.
